This might seem a strange one but just look in the past. Facebook is the new MySpace. Broadband internet connection is the new AOL. HTML5 is the most exciting technology right now. CSS3 is the new CSS1. Flash is on its way out. ASP.net will be out in a maximum of five years. Terms such as WAP, FBML or Perl are likely to become unimportant today because nobody needs or uses them anymore.

The average life span for a web technology is around five years – right now; who knows in the future? Do you think that in 10 years your client will still be impressed with a strong HTML5 portfolio? Definitely no.

The answer to this problem is constant learning and improvement. To be successful, you have to read and learn about new technologies and also learn how and where to use them. You may not be an expert today, but you have a chance to beome one in dew years time when the technologies appear. While the other experts are too busy with their projects, you will have the time to learn the new technologies and go out there to market yourself as an expert. This is how you can create a trong career for yourself.
